✦ Infinity Castle in Korea, and What Comes Next
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film
The theatrical film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle opened in Korea on August 22, 2025, passed 5.59 million admissions in November 2025 to beat Suzume and become the biggest Japanese film in Korean box office history, and later went past 5.8 million.
Infinity Castle Chapter 2 is in production and a three-part trilogy is confirmed, but no official release date has been announced yet.
Waiting around for Chapter 2 is boring, so let's tear into the MBTI of the nine Hashira, the strongest swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps, scene by scene.
This post contains content through the Mugen Train arc and Infinity Castle Chapter 1, so if you haven't watched yet, stopping here is a good idea. (And if you haven't watched, go watch it! Hurry back! Shoo, shoo!)
✦ Six Cognitive Functions in Plain Words
The keys used to read the nine Hashira
MBTI is a personality type tool that sorts people on four criteria and calls them by four letters.
Through the habits of mind called cognitive functions, Fe is the habit of reading the feelings of those around you and coordinating them, and Fi is the habit of judging by your own inner values.
Te is the habit of pushing things through with efficiency and rules, and Si is the habit of keeping to experience and principles.
Ni is the habit of seeing through to structures that are not visible on the surface, and Se is the habit of throwing yourself into the reality right in front of you.
It is not an official setting, but if you pick the scenes apart one by one, it is quite convincing.
✦ The Nine Hashira at a Glance
Dissent is based on the sources checked
Kyojuro Rengoku (Flame Hashira): ENFJ
✦ Rengoku's Type, Split by Source
Number of sources
Rengoku is an ENFJ. mbtiwho and getpersonality call him an ENFJ, while ScreenRant and Psychology Junkie split off with ESTP and Practical Typing with ESFP. Still, to answer the question in the title, ENFJ fits him best.
In the Mugen Train arc, Rengoku fights to the end to protect the passengers, and before he dies he leaves words of encouragement for Tanjiro and his friends.
A man who looks after others and lifts them up until the moment he dies is far too strong in Fe to be called an action type absorbed in the fight in front of him.
Giyu Tomioka (Water Hashira): ISTJ
Giyu is an ISTJ. Five sources, mbtiwho, getpersonality, ScreenRant, Personality Database, and Psychology Junkie, all call him an ISTJ, and only CBR and Sportskeeda call him an INTP.
In episode 1 of season 1, Giyu does not kill the Kamado siblings and tells them to go to Urokodaki. Calling him an INTP just because he says little does not work, because the standard Giyu judges by is not logic in his head but the principles inside him.
His sense of responsibility in quietly carrying out his duty fits the Si of an ISTJ perfectly.
Shinobu Kocho (Insect Hashira): INTJ
Shinobu is an INTJ. mbtiwho, getpersonality, ScreenRant, Sportskeeda, and Psychology Junkie call her an INTJ, and only CBR calls her an ENTP.
At the Butterfly Mansion, Shinobu treats the injured Tanjiro and his friends and has them go through recovery training. In Infinity Castle Chapter 1, she confronts Doma as part of a plan that uses the poison she has built up in her body over a long time.
There is no way a person who spent a long time building up poison behind a smiling face is an ENTP who finds answers by debating. Ni and Te, which set up moves around a distant goal rather than the move in front of you, point to INTJ.
Gyomei Himejima (Stone Hashira): INFJ
Gyomei is an INFJ. mbtiwho, Sportskeeda, and Personality Database call him an INFJ, and only Psychology Junkie calls him an ISFJ.
At the Hashira meeting, Gyomei watches quietly with his palms pressed together and tears running down his face. He feels deeply for other people's pain yet says little and stays careful, which looks just like an INFJ, who has both Fe and Ni.
Obanai Iguro (Serpent Hashira): ISTJ
Obanai is an ISTJ. mbtiwho, getpersonality, Sportskeeda, and Psychology Junkie call him an ISTJ. He is the Hashira most faithful to the rules among all nine.
At the Hashira meeting, Obanai keeps distrusting Tanjiro and Nezuko and presses them hard. Putting rules and principles first is the combination of Te and Si.
Muichiro Tokito (Mist Hashira): INFP
Muichiro is an INFP. mbtiwho and getpersonality call him an INFP, and Psychology Junkie calls him an INTP. There is not much material on him.
In the Swordsmith Village arc, Muichiro regains the memories he lost along with his twin brother's death and awakens. The way his own values and pure sensitivity hide beneath a vague, introverted exterior is the look of Fi.
INFP fits him far better than a cold, calculating-looking INTP.
Sanemi Shinazugawa (Wind Hashira): ESTJ
Sanemi is an ESTJ. mbtiwho, getpersonality, and Sportskeeda call him an ESTJ, and only Psychology Junkie calls him an ESTP.
At the Hashira meeting, Sanemi provokes Nezuko with his own blood and stabs her box with a sword to prove she is a danger. Blunt and rough, but pushing things through with order and discipline first is the look of Te.
The same attitude shows when he treats his younger brother Genya roughly in the Hashira Training arc.
Mitsuri Kanroji (Love Hashira): INFP, and ESFJ
✦ Mitsuri's Type, Split by Source
Number of sources
Mitsuri is an INFP. mbtiwho, ScreenRant, CBR, Sportskeeda, and levellifeup, a privately run MBTI analysis site, all call her an INFP. ESFJ comes first on the voting site getpersonality, and Psychology Junkie also calls her an ESFJ.
In the Swordsmith Village arc, Mitsuri fights Hantengu's clone while keeping a bright attitude and encouraging her comrades.
She looks like an ESFJ because she cares for people, but her starting point is not other people's expectations but the pure values inside her, so she is closer to an INFP.
Tengen Uzui (Sound Hashira): ESTP
Tengen is an ESTP. mbtiwho, getpersonality, Sportskeeda, and Psychology Junkie call him an ESTP, and only CBR calls him an ESFJ.
In the Entertainment District arc, Tengen shouts that he will go out flashy and goes into a head-on fight. Cherishing his three wives is certainly ESFJ-like, but the color of Se, jumping into the scene on impulse, is far stronger.
To Sum Up
Among the nine Hashira, Giyu and Obanai are both ISTJ, and Muichiro and Mitsuri are both INFP, so two pairs share a type. Rengoku is an ENFJ, Shinobu an INTJ, Gyomei an INFJ, Sanemi an ESTJ, and Tengen an ESTP.
Eight of them, everyone except Obanai, are called a different type by some source, and that fight over opinions is the charm of these Hashira.
